May 21 Pool Pour

Just after coming back to Arcosanti I participated in a major pour below the pool area. The project involves shoring up an area below the pool to ensure that the pool remains stable and is undermined by the earth and rock below.

This reminds me of a ancient Anastazi ruin. Wonder what people will think when then unearth this after we are long gone.

Bench form work ready for concrete pour

Above you can see the formwork and rebar for the bench Wil Holman made…ready to be poured. We later had a chance to test the seat out at the Avalanche Bar & Grill party before David left for summer vacation.

Mario a architect from Columbia uses the vibrator for the first time to ensure that there are no air spaces in the concrete.

Here I am troweling the concrete surface on the top of the bench.

Of course when the gravel and sand gets low we need to go up the hill with the pick up to get more.

The slabs cap a silt cast panel facing the front of the hills and two side walls designed to shore up the cliff below the pool
