Boston-based spoken-word phenomenon, Jade Sylvan, to perform at Arcosanti Friday, July 16th, 8PM

Jade Sylvan is one of the pioneers of the rapidly growing community of underground, independent writers making their own ways through performance, self-promotion, and social media savvy. Bypassing the traditional routes of literary agents and major publishers in favor of performance, grass-roots promotion, and word of mouth, she has gained a strong following in her native Boston, and continues to build upon it as she travels to city after city sharing her work.

She has performed as the featured reader in some of the largest and most well-respected spoken word venues in the country, spoken at Universities, and led writing workshops. In September of 2009, she celebrated the release of her first full-length collection of poetry, The Spark Singer, on the independent Brooklyn-based press, Spuyten Duyvil.

As part of her 2010 tour of the West Coast, Jade will perform at the Soleri Amphitheater at Arcosanti in Mayer, AZ on Friday, July 16.

The show will begin at 8PM and is free and open to the public. She will perform her original poetry and music, and also engage the audience in a discussion about the internet, the changing face of media, and the future of independent art.
